Persona canvas

Love your customers. Give a customer segment a face and a name, making it easier to step into the shoes of the customer and talk about customer types in a tangible, concrete way.

Persona canvas

What it is

The Persona Canvas gives a customer segment a face and a name. Instead of talking about an abstract target group, your team designs for a person: what drives them, what they hope for, what frustrates them, and what they are trying to get done in their work or life.

What you use it for

Use it to make customer conversations concrete. A team that argues about 'the enterprise segment' goes in circles; a team that asks 'would this help Anna?' makes decisions. The persona keeps empathy in the room long after the customer interviews are over, and it exposes the gaps where you are guessing instead of knowing.

How to work with it

Build personas from real observations and interviews, not from stereotypes around the table. Give the persona a name and a sketch, then fill in goals, hopes, fears and frustrations. Two or three sharp personas beat ten shallow ones. Pin them where the team works and test every idea against them: which persona is this for, and how do we know they want it?
