ASIS International
ASIS International, the world's largest membership organization for security management professionals, faced stagnating membership growth and needed to evolve its strategic framework for a global future. Over a 1.5-year collaboration, BMI co-created the 2024-2028 Strategic Plan, giving ASIS a unified global vision and actionable strategies for growth.

The challenge
ASIS faced stagnating membership growth and needed a clear, forward-looking vision to remain strong in the security landscape. Transitioning from a primarily U.S.-based organization to a global presence, it needed a partner for inclusive co-creation to engage stakeholders and craft a strategic vision for innovation and global growth.
Our approach
The collaboration ran in three phases: understanding ASIS' current role through graphic history, context analysis, business model mapping and co-creation sessions with members; creating a vision, strategic plan and activation story refined with the staff team and approved by the advisory board; and moving from vision to an actionable strategic plan, including an innovation sprint that tested and validated a potential new member service over four weeks.
The results
- An advisory-board-approved, actionable 2024-2028 strategic plan aligned with ASIS' future vision, shifting its role from educator to facilitator.
- Over 400 stakeholders engaged in strategic planning, deepening commitment across the global organization.
- An empowered staff equipped with innovation tools, democratizing strategy and highlighting new opportunities for value creation and revenue.
The method stayed with the team. It always does.
