The challenge
Industrial markets have changed radically with automation, industrial IoT, 5G, and drones, and the needs and attitudes of the next generation of workers keep shifting. The question: how might four multinational companies co-innovate on tomorrow's challenges in manufacturing to stay ahead of these changes?
Our approach
In the middle of Silicon Valley, BMI designed a co-innovation arena uniting designers, builders, and potential end-users, guiding executives through an entrepreneurial journey in just 48 hours. Five teams each tackled a pre-defined opportunity area, from informed decision making to next generation workforce, through a high-paced design process rooted in prototyping, with selected end-users brought in every 90 minutes to test assumptions and refine concepts.
The results
- Five brand-new joint startups with future-proof business models, validated prototypes, and game plans designed for impact.
- A 'Dragon's Den' finale in front of executive leadership from all four companies produced a big majority of 'I'm in!' responses to all five pitches.
- All achieved in just 48 hours.
