HSO
International IT consultancy HSO was approaching its growth targets but recognized that current successes were no guarantee of future performance. With Business Models Inc., HSO transitioned from traditional product thinking to strategic proposition thinking, developing six concrete growth propositions and identifying eight new market industries for sustained growth.

The challenge
HSO stood at a strategic turning point: in an increasingly competitive IT consultancy market, it needed new business models to unlock additional revenue streams, promote innovation and strengthen its long-term position. What had brought HSO this far would not take them into the future, and the company wanted to act proactively from a position of strength.
Our approach
BMI conducted a thorough audit of HSO's portfolio of 14 products and services, grouping it into core products, growth opportunities and experimental offerings. In parallel, an extensive external analysis covered trends, market sizes, IT spending patterns per industry and key competitors, revealing market gaps and unmet needs. Stakeholder interviews and co-creation with management transformed product thinking into proposition thinking.
The results
- Eight strategic growth industries identified through data-driven analysis, giving management a clear framework for market focus.
- Six defined growth propositions with clear value propositions, target groups and implementation strategies, ready to bring to market.
- A transformation from product thinking to proposition thinking as the basis of HSO's growth strategy, with sharper strategic focus and market positioning.
The method stayed with the team. It always does.
