INGKA Centres, which operates 34 IKEA-anchored meeting places across 13 countries, wanted to transform its circular retail concept Circuit into a powerful, scalable solution. Through strategic design and co-creation, BMI redefined Circuit around circular economy principles, delivering a concept ecosystem ready for stakeholder engagement.

INGKA Centres

The challenge

INGKA Centres needed to evolve Circuit to better meet market demands, boost partner engagement, scalability across markets and visitor desirability. The challenge was to ensure Circuit's long-term viability while empowering the many people to behave sustainably, in line with INGKA's vision of meeting places for a better everyday life.

Our approach

BMI began with a thorough analysis of Circuit, improving the existing business model and exploring other circular retail opportunities. A co-creation workshop with diverse experts redesigned the opportunities around the circular principles of repair, reuse and resell, and findings were consolidated into a visual, interactive Miro board that ensured stakeholder alignment and a clear path forward.

The results

  • Strategic business case templates supporting structured decision-making.
  • Visual storyboards mapping the customer journey and the operating model behind it.
  • A complete Circuit concept explanation, with each solution detailed by value proposition and business model, brought together in an ecosystem and an interactive Miro board for stakeholder engagement.

The method stayed with the team. It always does.
